There's a new world of entrepreneurship emerging at this very moment. The hard-sell and manipulative sales tactics of yesteryear are over. No one wants to be tricked into buying something. Pushing people to invest in a product or service that will cause an economic hardship will no longer be tolerated. Bullying people to work with you during a discovery session is counterproductive. Over the last decade marketers have been bombarding prospects with "Buy, Buy Now, Buy Me to feel worthy, Buy This to fit in" messages. Consumers are awakening. They're fed up and they want authenticity.
As an entrepreneur it is not your job to convince someone to work with you or purchase your product. Your responsibility is to paint a vivid picture of where they are, where they want to be, and clearly convey how you can get them over the hump. You are here to serve, not sell. Selling is filled with lack energy. You're coming from a place of not having enough - enough money, enough clients, etc. It's laced with neediness and yearning for more. But more is never enough and the cycle of lack continues. Serving is filled with abundance energy. You're coming from a place of having more than enough and trusting that your needs will be provided for. Like attracts like. If you feel as though you're lacking, then you'll attract people that don't have enough money to work with you. I'm pretty sure that you'd rather attract people that have more than enough money, time, and motivation to work with you and use your products.
How would you feel if you went into a restaurant and they shoved the most expensive meals in your face with neon 'Buy Now' signs? I doubt that you would stay very long. When you go into a restaurant they provide the options, offer suggestions, and answer any questions you may have. They SERVE you.
Bottom line - anyone that needs to be convinced to work with you is not your ideal client. Your ideal client understands the value you bring to the table and they want to work with you. Let the results of your products and services speak for themselves. It's time to ditch the sales pitch!
