You've finally held your first 'scope, figured out how to add a title, and received a few hearts. It was fun and you were able to reach a new audience. But, you're an entrepreneur and at the end of the day you need sales to keep the doors open. So, what's next?
Monetization is next! When planning your 'scopes you must have an end goal in mind. You need to clearly state your intention and outline the roadmap. You're 'scoping because you want to build a genuine relationship with the viewer. You're providing exceptional content and the expectation is that the viewer will eventually purchase your product or service.
Ask yourself: What action step do I want the viewer take immediately after they watch? Hearts are great, but that isn't going to progress the relationship. Your goal needs to be specific and measurable. You may want them to follow you on Periscope, sign-up for your email list, or to tell a friend about you. Now that you know your goal, you'll want to add a clear call-to-action at the end of every 'scope. Ask for what you want. Of course you'd like them to do all of the above, but only give them one action step to prevent confusion.
When planning out your 'scopes mix it up a little bit. They should be full of valuable content, but also allow the viewer to get to know you and learn more about how you can help them. The key here is to inform and entertain without doing a hard-core sales pitch. You can include an unboxing 'scope to generate interest in your latest product. This is where you simply take your product out of the box on camera and share your excitement. It's a huge hit on YouTube with children and adults. My son watches them to decide which toys will make the cut for his Christmas list. You can even have someone else do a 'scope honestly reviewing your product.
On another 'scope give a behind the scenes glimpse into your activities. People love insider access and sneak peeks. Show them a snippet of the behind the scenes action at your live event or you creating a course outline. You can get really creative here. If you have a meditation cd, then do a 'scope where you are actually meditating with it. In your call-to-action ask them to go to iTunes and download it.
The shelf life of a 'scope is only 24 hours. After that it floats away into cyberspace. Fortunately, the download option allows you to breathe life back into it. It's your content so you can do whatever you like with it. Re-purposing is the best approach in order to turn your 'scopes into sales. From one 'scope you can create at least 5 different products. Ah, now that got your attention. Here are the 5 products:
Membership Site
Your scope can easily be added to your membership site. Members will pay a monthly fee to access your content. The content is typically dripped in over a period of time, however you can also put it in at one time.
DVD
Your 'scope is already in video format so sell it as a physical or digital dvd. You'll want to create a customized intro and outro.
CD
The audio from your 'scope can be extracted in order to create a physical or digital cd. You can then sell it on CD Baby as well as your own website.
Audio-book
The extracted audio can also be used for an audio-book. This can be sold on Amazon as well as your own website.
Physical Book
The audio can then be transcribed and the text can be used for a physical book. You may want to group together several relevant 'scopes to beef it up some. Your book can then be sold on CreateSpace as well as your own website.
Here's a bonus product for you...an e-book. Use your transcribed text and then you can sell it in the Kindle store.
All of these can be created from your 'scopes. Isn't that awesome? The thought of working once and earning lifetime profits is exciting. I'd to hear how you're going to turn your 'scopes into sales. Leave a comment below and I'll come back to join the conversation.
