Time is your most precious resource. Once it's gone, it's gone. The 10,080 minutes available in a week seem to vanish into thin air. Yet there are some that appear to have superhuman capabilities and do more than the average person. Why is that? Is it their drive, confidence, or access to resources? All 3 of those definitely play into their productivity, but the real key is the ability to manage the mind.
People often ask me how I get so much done. In any given week I'm meeting with clients, publishing content, creating products for myself as well as clients, and following up with business contacts...all as a single mom of a very active toddler. I have more than 20 products in my empire. I'm no SuperWoman. I hung up my cape long ago by adding the word "No" to my vocabulary. Saying no to others freed up so much of my time.
I fall prey to distractions just like everyone else, but I've learned how to manage or eliminate them. Here are a few of my productivity secrets:
I'm also one of those people that likes to write things down in a planner, but I could never find one that I really liked. I believe that there's more to life than just filling up time slots. So, I created a planner for myself and other entrepreneurs that value harmony in their lives. You can look inside here and even pick up a copy if you feel inspired to.

- Use a timer Nothing gets me moving faster than playing Beat-the-Clock. I use www.online-stopwatch.com/countdown-timer When the timer goes off sometimes I've completed the task and sometimes I haven't. But, I have something that I can build on. I love that the countdown appears in the browser tab.
- 45-minute slots I work on projects/tasks in 45-minute time slots and then I take a 10-15 minute break. The human brain is programmed to wander after 45 minutes. No sense in fighting it, so I work with it.
- Decrease page size Looking at a blank 8 1/2" x 11" page on a screen freaks me out. That's why I don't look at it. A 6" x 9" page is doable or I'll start writing on my blog page. The smaller the better.
- Don't move When I sit down to work on a project/task I don't move until I'm done or the timer goes off. It's that simple. I have my trail mix, headphones, playlist, and water within reach.
- Mind-hack When given a problem, the mind will not quit until it comes up with a solution. Before I begin a task, I ask myself "What's the most efficient way to do this?" In a few minutes I have my answer. Even if it's a task that I do repeatedly, I still look for better ways.
