You've been wanting to create your very own online course for quite awhile now, but it's still not done. You get inspired and you take a few steps forward and then BOOM...you stop dead in your tracks. You have a pliable excuse every time and you're okay with your decision for a little bit. But, that guilt and disappointment in yourself is still there, nagging at you. Eventually, you cannot silence it anymore and you decide to start again with fierce determination, only to repeat the same cycle.
Sound familiar? I promise that I haven't been snooping in on you. However, I have worked with clients, just like you, to stop this cycle of self-abuse and to finally get their courses out into the world. I know that you have the desire to share your gifts with the masses, but you're not sure how to alter your behaviors. Radical action and a mindset shift are required to change your pattern.
Clearly, what you've been doing isn't getting you the results that you want. Your entire course does not have be complete before you sell it. It's one way to do it, but it's not the only way. If it's preventing you from creating your online course, then it's definitely not the right method for you.
Your entire course doesn't need to be complete before you release it into the world. It doesn't have to be perfect. Truthfully, there's no such thing as a perfect course. You're allowed to change your course and make different versions of it. Do it your way! Strive for completion, not perfection. The goal is to get your online course done and out to the masses.
So, here's the best way to complete your online course: Sell It & Create It As You Go. There's no point in investing all of your time and energy into something that people aren't interested in. Create a detailed outline, get your sales page up, and sell it. Give yourself a week or so before the course start date and get busy creating your content. You can do a live course or offer it electronically. Every week you'll be forced to create the next week's content.
With your feet to the fire, you'll probably come up with enough content for 2 courses. There's no greater motivation than incoming sales. Your clients/customers are depending on you to deliver. Disappointing them isn't an option!
Doesn't doing one week or module at a time sound much more manageable? Leave a comment below and let me know. I'll pop back in to join the conversation :)
