Live streaming on platforms like Meerkat, Periscope, Facebook Live, and MeVee is quickly picking up steam. The next best thing to meeting someone in person is to see them on video. We all grew up watching television. I was a latch-key child and an only child. The characters on my favorite shows were like family to me. Having real people share their real experiences in real time exemplifies "Reality TV."
Live streaming expands your reach and allows you to reach a global audience. The best part is that they feel like you know them and vice versa. I never thought in a million years that I would be calling people that I've never met in person my friends, but I do. Authentic and genuine connections are happening every time that broadcast button is pushed.
The amazing content that you're sharing as live streams can and should be re-purposed. Not just on social media platforms, but into actual products that allow you to generate continuous income. Here are 3 ways to create an online course from live streams:
Hopefully, you've been saving it. Periscope allows you to save your video to your camera roll. You can also use Katch.me, a free third-party system that hosts your Periscope videos.
If you've been saving them, then group related topics together to create your course.
If you haven't been saving your live streams, then start now. For other platforms like Facebook Live and MeVee that don't allow easy downloads you'll need to record them yourself. I recommend QuickTime for Mac users and Reflector 2 for both Mac and PC users.
2. Create a Live Series
Do a 3- or 4- part series on the live stream platform of your choice. This will help keep you focused and generate repeat viewers.
3. Create a Private Broadcast
A private broadcast will remove some of the stress of being live. Host it as you would a webinar. You could even use this as a beta test and invite a select few to participate or you can charge in advance and get paid to teach your course live.
If you've been procrastinating about launching your course, then jumping in head first with these live stream options may be a viable option for you. Remember, no one expects you to be perfect. Just be yourself and share high quality, valuable information. If you're camera shy, then you can simply show slides or do demonstrations.
So what's it going to be? Which option are you going to choose? Leave a comment below and let me know. I'll come back and join the conversation :)
