"Gratitude is a powerful process for shifting your energy and bringing more of what you want into your life. Be grateful for what you already have and you will attract more good things."
-From the movie The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
As entrepreneurs we're always chasing the carrot on the stick. You feel like if only you could reach that carrot, then everything will be perfect. You've made that carrot your key to entrepreneurial freedom, but it's not. There will always be a new carrot dangling on a stick, whether it's increasing your list, gaining exposure, creating an international brand or achieving your next financial goal. Sure, you may take a nibble of the carrot, but you'll always crave more. That insatiable appetite leads most entrepreneurs into states of depression and financial ruin because they're focused on what they don't have.
There's nothing wrong with having goals and taking inspired action to achieve them. Problems arise when you use your desired end-result to determine your self-worth and success. You're already a success exactly as you are right now. Not because of anything that you've done or are doing, but simply because of the amazing being that you are.
Entrepreneurship is an emotional roller-coaster full of terrifying drops, inclines that get your adrenaline pumping, and twisty turns. The worst part is that you can't see what's coming next. When you're up, then you're ecstatic. When you're down, then it takes every ounce of strength, faith, and courage within you to keep pushing forward. Every business owner has been there. I'm surprised that there's not a national business owner support group or hotline. Seriously, every entrepreneur needs someone to talk them of the ledge when they feel like their dreams are unattainable and they want the throw in the towel. Entrepreneurship has its challenges, like most things, but the rewards are priceless.
Although the peaks and valleys are unavoidable, you have the power to control their duration. The attitude of gratitude is a game-changer in your business and life. Giving thanks for what you have, even when it's not what you want, will make the good times last longer and the dark times end sooner. If you only have one client or make just one sale, then give thanks for that. Express your gratitude to that person. Appreciating what you have as you're working towards your goal is the key to attracting more sales, clients/customers, and brand exposure.
You don't have to wait until something or someone great materializes. You can express gratitude with the expectation that your desire will manifest. Go ahead and give thanks for 3 new paying clients before you pick up the phone to make those sales calls. When you express your gratitude be sure to use present tense. For example, "I am so happy and grateful that I earn $3,000 a month doing what I love" or "Thank you for the 20 people that are enrolled in my online course". Claim it as if it is a reality.
In order to grow your brand exponentially you must express gratitude for what you have and what you desire. Then, trust that your wishes will be granted as you continue to take inspired action to achieve your goals. I promise that if you do this consistently, you'll experience greater prosperity and happiness.
With that said, I'd like to take a moment to express my gratitude. I'm truly grateful to you for reading my words and sharing this space with me. You could be anywhere, but you chose to be here. Thank you! Leave a comment below and let me know what you're grateful for. (Your comment will give me and others something else to be grateful for)
